Tukay is built on receipts, so some of what you do here is public on purpose. This page says exactly what we keep, who can see it, and what stays private.

What we keep

From Google when you sign in: your name, email address and profile photo.

What you add: your $tag, your city, and, if you choose, the bank name and account number borrowers pay you back into.

What you do on Tukay: contracts and requests, the amounts and dates, paybacks you record, receipts you upload, notes, nudges, disputes, and your Tukay Score history.

Your devices: a sign-in cookie, and, if you turn alerts on, the push address your browser gives us for that device.

Feedback and errors: anything you send with “Send feedback”, and, when the app runs into an error, what broke, which screen you were on and your browser's name. Only the Tukay team sees these, to fix things.

We don't use ad trackers or sell your data.

What's public

Anyone signed in to Tukay can see your name, $tag, city, Tukay Score, tier and badges, and your loan history: who you lent to or borrowed from, how much, when it was due, and whether it was paid early, on time or late. That's the point: receipts keep everyone honest. You also appear on the leaderboards.

What's private

Receipts, notes and disputes are only visible to the two people on that contract.

Your bank details are only visible to you, and to someone while they have a live contract to pay you back.

Your email address is never shown to other people.

Money

Tukay never holds, moves or sees your money. Transfers happen between your banks; Tukay only records what you both say happened.

Where it's stored and who helps us

Your data is stored with Supabase in London, UK, and the app runs on Vercel, also in London. Google handles sign-in. If you turn alerts on, they travel through your browser's push service (Google, Apple or Mozilla), encrypted so only your device can read them.

Your choices

You can change your name, city and bank details, or remove your bank details, from your profile at any time. You can turn alerts off, and sign out of every device at once.

You can ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it. You can delete your account yourself from your profile once no money is still owed either way. Contracts are shared records with another person, so when you leave we remove your name, $tag, photo, city, bank details and alerts, but keep the deal itself as a “deleted account”, so the other person's history still adds up.

Age

Tukay is for people aged 18 and over.

Questions, want a copy of your data, or want something changed? Tell us with Send feedback on your profile in the app. You can delete your account yourself from your profile too.
